Personality:

Rise Kujikawa aka Risette is a charismatic idol.

Rise is cheerful, flirty, outspoken and just anything but shy. Because she is very secured with her good looks and cheerful personality, Rise can be very full of herself at times. Her outgoing persona made her the ideal idol, and her talent for taking on different characters helped. As seen during her confrontation with her shadow, Rise or Risette could be anything you want her to be. However, it was due to this that her problems and self-doubt began. She began to question if her fans loved her or her persona as Risette. She doesn't believe she is any of the persona her fans see her to be. No one saw her as she really was, which was a cheerful girl that liked to make friends. Unfortunately, those who chased her either wanted an autograph or give her some kind of label. The stress became unbearable, so she quit her life in the entertainment industry and returned home to Inaba.

Despite that she is often stereotyped as the typical bubbly and cute highschool girl or a ditz maybe, she has shown much more character than that in different ways in the series. She admits that she was very much uncomfortable with people's view of her as Risette. The Japanese idol industry has two target audiences. It is no different for Rise. One of them is pre-teen, young girls that dreams to be like her. The other is for men that make her into a sex symbol. She clearly hates this part of her and has a difficult time accepting that part of her. She found it shameful. That is until she met the rest of the Persona 4 gang.

"And now, the moment you've been waiting for! It's time for me to show you every last inch of myself!"

Her nonacceptance became more apparent upon meeting her shadow that came in the form of a pole dancer. Her shadow declared that she was her true self. A girl that would do anything to have people look at her even if it meant 'showing' or 'exposing' every inch of herself. This became a problem especially because Rise is quite a stubborn girl.

She is also very honest with her feelings. For most of the series, she showed obvious affection for the hero. She is also the type to say exactly what she means without thinking. If she finds something strange, she will say so. If she dislikes something, she says so. It could be disgust, teasing or annoyance, but she will definitely say it.

As the story progressed, Rise understood how fleeting fame was. Not long after she had declared her retirement, her manager found a new girl/idol came to take her place. At the same time, she also realized that despite everything she wanted to return to the entertainment industry. During the beauty pageant at their school, she had fun being in front of a crowd again and having people cheer her on. Those different versions of Risette was not a fabrication. They were different pieces of her. In the end, she decides to return to show the world a different face and not just Risette.

Predictably, since Rise belonged to a world where looks and charm are essential for fame and survival she belongs to the Aphrodite Cabin. She is very self-assured and vain about her good looks and ability to charm and draw people to her. Since she is an acress, she can change her image and personality to whatever necessary. She can be very cute and playful, but she can be quite seductive too.


Not only that, she holds the Lovers Arcana in both the game and Animation that symbolizes both love and romantic relationships. Her Persona Kanzeon or Guanyin is revered in the general Chinese population due to her unconditional love, compassion and mercy.

☆ Charmspeak - Before quitting, Rise had been one of the most charming and popular idols in the Entertainment industry. She also had plenty of commercials promoting different products and no matter how strange people are still drawn to the message or the products. It is possible that being drawn to her is not only due to her looks, but quite possibly also she could unknowingly use charmspeak sometimes.

As a former idol, Rise takes good care of her looks. And since she appears often in television, it can easily be said that she is commercially attractive. She styles her hair in her signature pigtails and is dark brown in color, but may sometimes look reddish-brown due to the lighting. While in the game she has brown eyes, in the anime her eyes are golden. She can be described as a lithe, skinny and small girl, but quite must be quite fit as well since she can easily do her perky and energetic dance routines as an idol.

Like most of the characters, majority of the anime she is wearing her school uniform as seen in the link above. When she isn't, her casual style shows that she prefers clothes that complement her playful and flirty personality. Rise is very proud and even though she told herself that she was done being an idol, she still dresses fashionably and attractively.

After almost getting killed after waking up in an unfamiliar place last time, Rise can't say that she was very happy to wake up at yet another unfamiliar place. At first she thought that she had been kidnapped again and had been brought into the television world. It didn't look like it though ... at least what she could remember last time she was in that world. The World of the Television did still somehow resemble Inaba. However, this place was like another place all together. Not an unfamiliar one since she saw a few familiar landmarks.

"Sempai? Kuma-chan?" Rise glanced around her surroundings worriedly.

This was Tokyo and it isn't at all an unfamiliar place to her. Tokyo was the beginning of her journey to become an idol. It was the birthplace of Risette. The question now, however was what she was doing here. Getting to Tokyo from Inaba was not easy and the trip took several hours. The fact that she was here now meant that she had been unconscious that long.

She looked inside her pocket to see if she could find her phone, but of course she didn't find one. Instead, she found a strange-looking ... coin and she knew it definitely wasn't hers. It was too heavy and big to be a Japanese Yen.

Come to think of it, it didn't look like she was in Inaba anymore. She wasn't even sure if she was still in Japan. Since she had seen some pictures of America before, she could only deduce that she was in the United States. Possibly New York because she could see the Empire State Building from where she stood.

Hoping for something else that would give her a clue --- she searched her pockets for anything at all. She was worried about them. Yu-sempai, Yosuke, Chie-chan, Yukiko-chan, Teddy ... even the weird Kanji..

Still.

She didn't like the thought of being rescued again. It made her feel like a burden. She didn't like that. What she wanted was to be useful or at least become a support for her friends. Not someone that needed to be rescued. With that thought in mind, she became more persistent about finding another clue.

She was in New York with no cellphone and nowhere to go. What was a poor idol to do?
